SuperintendentÕs Report

April 2, 2008

Victoria Burns, Superintendent

1.              The Commissioner of Education, Susan Gendron, sent MSAD #15 a letter informing the District that the Continuous Improvement Plan resulting from the Cycle VI Special Education Program Review has been completed. The DistrictÕs Special Education Program continues its status of full-program approval of the special education programs within the District. Congratulations to Erin Chase, Director of Special Services, and her staff for securing full-program approval.

2.              The Commissioner of Education approved a state-wide waiver of the 170 instructional days for graduating seniors. MSAD #15 seniors will graduate on June 7th as scheduled on the 07-08 school calendar.

3.              I also received a letter from Lisa Roger-Haines, MSAD 15 Destination Imagination volunteer, informing me that the Western Regional Destination Imagination tournament held at the Middle School was a great success. They hosted 25 teams. Ms. Haines reported that numerous positive responses were made about the Middle School Facility and she wanted to especially thank the Middle School custodial staff. Five MSAD #15 teams will be going to Bangor on April 19th for the State competition. Congratulations!

a.     New PE Station

b.     Existing Music Room

c.     New WomenÕs/MenÕs Bathrooms by the new gym.

Mr. Towle is working with the contractors on the completion of a punch list as well as assurance that there will be continued responsibility for the wear of the PE Station floor.
