SuperintendentÕs Report

1.              Four of our 6th grade band members participated in the MMEA District II All District Band Festival at Greeley Middle School on April 9th. These very talented students were as follows:

a.     Cody Brann, Trombone

b.     Jesse MacDonald, Percussion

c.     Paul Phillips, Tenor Sax

d.     Leah Ridge, French Horn.

 

Almost 300 students from throughout District II performed in the All District Band string orchestra or chorus. Thank you to our Band Director, John Sovesky, for providing the musical direction and encouragement to our students. I also thank the parent volunteers who spent this musical day with our middle school students.

 

2.              I received a notice that the High School Basic Guitar Class, Concert Band and Spanish 1 and 2 will listen to a classical Spanish Guitar presentation by guitarist Michael Silvestri at the High School on April 15th.

 

3.              Dr. Rich, Board Chair, and I attended a Novel Celebration presented by Ms. Fecteau and Ms. BuckÕs 6th grade class. Many parents attended this evening and enjoyed viewing projects and presentations by the students. Thank you to the teachers for taking the extra time to provide this opportunity for our students.

 

4.              My office received the Enacted ED279 (formally ED 281) state subsidy report. The final State subsidy contribution is $12,529 less than the projected March subsidy figure. The ED 279 is enclosed in your packet.

 

5.              I attended the Cumberland County SuperintendentÕs Association meeting on Thursday, April 10. At this time, we continue to follow the budget process mandated by the consolidation law. MSAD #15 will have a Meeting on June 5 at the Middle School to approve the 08-09 School Budget. The meeting will start with voter registrations at 6:30 with the Budget Meeting to follow. The Budget Validation Vote will be held on June 10.

 

6.              The Draft 08-09 School Budget was presented to the New Gloucester Selectmen on April 7. On April 15, Board representatives will share the school budget to the Town of Gray.
