ADMINISTRATOR/SUPERVISOR EVALUATIONS

 

It is the policy of MSAD #15Õs Board of Directors promote and sustain high quality leadership in order to achieve the educational mission of the District. The purpose of an administrator evaluation system is to ensure continuous improvement of district leadership. This policy applies to individuals employed as principals, assistant principals, athletic director or district-wide directors as well as supervisors who oversee management functions such as transportation/facilities manager, maintenance supervisor, food service supervisor.

 

The Superintendent will implement and supervise an evaluation system for all administrative and supervising personnel. Formal evaluations of administrators, supervisors and managers will be made at least once a year. Evaluations will be conducted according to the following guidelines:

 

A.   Evaluative criteria shall be in written form and made permanently available to the administrator/supervisor;

 

B.    Evaluations shall be made by the Superintendent or immediate administrator;

 

C.    Results of the evaluations shall be put in writing and shall be discussed with the administrator/supervisor/manager;

 

D.   The administrator/supervisor/manager being evaluated will have the right to attach a memorandum to the written evaluation; and

 

E.    Results of all evaluations shall be kept in confidential personnel files maintained at the Superintendents office.

 

In keeping with the School BoardÕs goal of employing the best-qualified administrators/ supervisors/managers, all administrators/supervisors/managers are expected to participate fully in the evaluation process through goal setting, self-appraisal and continuous improvement of professional skills. The Superintendent will make recommendations to the Board to renew individual contracts for administrators in accordance with terms of work agreements and state law, if applicable.

 

Prior to contract renewal, the Board will review the superintendentÕs evaluations of administrators. The Superintendent will review the administratorÕs evaluations of supervisors/ managers. Failure of an evaluator to comply with this policy shall not be the basis for continued employment of an administrator.
