ADOPTED 3-15-06

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY/MISSION

Maine School Administrative District #15Ős School Board recognizes that the thorough and efficient education of children is its primary statutory-based responsibility. To this end, the Board considers proper and adequate support of schools to be a civic responsibility shared by all citizens.

To ensure that support, MSAD #15, the community, students and staff, aspire to form an educational partnership that will provide a safe, caring and challenging academic environment where all are afforded opportunities to learn and succeed, grow and mature.

Recognizing the need for adaptability in the face of continuing social and technological changes, MSAD #15 is committed to the development of critical and creative thinkers. We honor the individual by fostering intellectual, cultural, civic, social and personal growth. When we succeed in developing the whole person, we create a society of responsible, productive citizens with a passion for life and for learning, who are prepared to take the next step.

The intent and results of our vision and educational efforts will empower every student in MSAD#15 to become an effective communicator, a self-directed and lifelong learner, a creative and practical problem solver, a responsible and involved citizen, a collaborative and quality worker and an integrative and informed thinker.

The Board accepts the responsibility of formulating policies and acquiring adequate funding to support the education process. The Board will consider the welfare of the entire student body as the single most important factor in making decisions relative to educational policy. It will be the responsibility of the Board and the administration to promote sound educational practices and professional development.
