Child Find Responsibilities
MSAD 15 seeks to ensure that all children residing in the jurisdiction between the ages of 5 and 20 years who are in need of special education and related services, even if they are advancing from grade to grade, are identified, located and evaluated at public expense. Those children may include wards of the State, state agency clients, highly mobile children including homeless and migrant, children attending private schools and receiving home instruction within the Towns of Gray or New Gloucester, children who have the equivalent of 10 full days of unexcused absences or 7 consecutive school days of unexcused absences during a school year, and children incarcerated in county jails. Identification of children with disabilities and programming for such children occurs after appropriate evaluations and a determination of eligibility is made by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team.
Parents, relatives, physicians, private school educators and other persons who are aware of a child that may require special education and related services are asked to contact the Director of Special Services, MSAD 15, 14 Shaker Road, Gray, ME 04039, telephone (207) 657-2066 or your child's school principal for further information.
