CoCurricular Athletic Council

"The Co-Curricular Department for Gray New Gloucester is pleased to update our community on some exciting things that are happening for our students. A committee was established last year to begin reviewing our athletic and co-curricular programs. The Co-Curricular Committee met numerous times and tackled some difficult issues such as; coach/advisor stipends and job descriptions, fundrasing and booster club policies, summer programming and a structure of support for the athletic/co-curricular department. On November 18, Anne Rowe presented the final report to our school board. The committee's hard work was evident in her presentation. The school board spoke highly of the work accomplished by the committee and supported the effort to continue to focus on the improvement of our athletic/co-curricular programs. The board acted to support these efforts by approving the creation of a Council for Co-Curricular Improvement. This council will be a structure to assist in providing a collaborative communication process for a variety of individuals and organizations. The council will have representation from administration, school board, boosters, students and other stakeholders based on agenda topics. As an advisory council to the Superintendent, it is our goal to provide clear community communication, be proactive in our programming and assist in the research needed to provide data-driven decisions for our students. The creation of this council is a very positive step towards the continued development of quality programs for our student-athletes.
